Violist Jaewon Chung has established herself as an enthusiastic performer and a devoted pedagogue in the New York/New Jersey area. She has frequently appeared on prestigious stages such as Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall and many others throughout the United States, Russia and her native Korea. An active orchestral player, Jaewon has served as a principal violist for the CN Philharmonic, Underwood Chamber Orchestra and New York Symphony Orchestra.

A passionate advocate of chamber music, Jaewon toured Korea in 2017 with an ensemble for “Innovation 1 to 5,” a pair of concerts presented by Si-Yo Music Society Foundation. She played a key role in teaching and promoting classical music and chamber music to members of communities with limited access to classical music. These efforts
were acknowledged and supported by local Korean media and a segment of her performance was featured on a notable educational/cultural program on national television.

Upon graduating Busan National University with honors, Jaewon continued her education in the U.S. with notable musicians including Todd Phillips (Orion String Quartet and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra), Harris Goldsmith, Daniel Panner (Mendelssohn String Quartet and New York City Opera), and Choong Jin Chang (Johannes Quartet and
Philadelphia Orchestra). She holds a Master of Music degree and Professional Studies diploma from the Mannes College of Music at the New School University and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the
Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
