Peng Ji (born May 21,1982,Beijing, China)is a Jazz Bassist,Composer and Educator.

Currently ,teaching jazz harmony, ensemble and jazz bass courses at Central Conservatory Of Music,Beijing.

Peng Ji began with classical guitar and his parents were amateur musicians, so when he was young he got his first musical influences from them.

In 2010, he graduated from Prince Claus Conservatorium, Groningen, the Netherlands B.A degree in Jazz bass performance and teaching, he has studied under Paul Berner, Ralph Peterson Jr. Alex Sipiagin, Don Braden, Joris Teepe, David Berkman, Mark Gross and Freddie Bryant, he developed his knowledge and experiences with the masters, He  also had a chance to study with great Hein Van De Geyn(Chet Baker band) in Rotterdam.

By finished B.A degree in the Netherlands, he decided moved to New York City to finish his M.A degree in Queens College,NYC. He has studied music with great masters in NYC: the legendary Ron Carter, Barry Harris, Michael Mossman, David Berkman, Antonio Hart, Johannes Weidenmulleller (kenny Werner Trio), Boris Kazlov (Mingus Band), Eric Revis (Branford Marsalis band), David Wong(Roy Haynes Band), Marco Panascia, Kiyoshi Kitagawa, Joe Senders, Kendrick Scott etc.

He has performed with James Moody, George Cables, Antonio Hart, Vincent Herring, Vince Chrico, Owen Hart Jr, Steve Altenberg, Paul Berner, Peter Beets, Rob van Pavel, Fay Claassen, Ralph Peterson Jr, David Berkman, Alex Sipiagin, Don Braden, Freddie Bryant and Mark Gross in a variety of different situations.

 2012 August participated Antonio Hart China tour as bassist

2013 August recorded debut CD”Brooklyn Session”with Vincent Herring

2013 September participated Vincent Herring NYC Quintet China tour as bassist.Performed in Shanghai Jazz festval and HangZhou international Jazz festval as well.

Peng Ji also has written for ”Modern Player”magazine with his columns about jazz bass playing.
